The Payangadi Urban Co-Operative Bank Ltd.

The Payangadi Urban Co-operative Bank was established in 1985 with the objective of meeting the financial needs of the weaker sections of society, including industrial workers, agricultural labourers, small traders, salaried employees, and other members of the local community. Since its inception, the Bank has remained committed to fulfilling the expectations of its customers through dedicated service, experienced employees, high-quality banking practices, and a spirit of innovation.

The Bank's area of operation is confined to the Payyannur and Kannur taluk and covers ten Grama Panchayats: Kadannappalli-Panapuzha, Cheruthazham, Kunhimangalam, Ezhome, Madai, Mattool, Cherukunnu, Kannapuram, Pappinissery, and Kalliasseri.

The Bank commenced its operations on 2 April 1985 and was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister, Sri K. Karunakaran. Sri V. V. K. Vengara was the Bank's first Chief Promoter and served as its first Chairman until 30 June 1990. He was succeeded by Sri M. P. Unnikrishnan as Chairman. At present, the Bank is led by its Chairman, Sri K. V. Nandanan.
